Embark with us on a journey towards legitimacy!

  • All sorts of people use legitimacy as a shield that protects and justifies all sorts of activities, some of which would perhaps not qualify as legitimate at a closer look. Some confuse the term "legitimate" with "legal," while others associate it with a majority support they think or pretend to have. There are too many interpretations of legitimacy. Our mission is to give the word "legitimacy" a concrete meaning, rules, and weight so that it ceases to be used as a cheap ornament and empty phrase in public debates. We are happy to assist in the process of (de)legitimizing crucial decisions in the public sphere. This involves setting up a framework for doing the right things in the right way based on the global best practice and research findings. We do not play gods and do not possess a monopoly on truth. We do not sell legitimacy either - it exists independently of us - we just assess it and help policies and projects achieve and reveal it. In our assessment of legitimacy, we rely on current scientific knowledge from various fields at leading Czech and foreign universities.
  • Do you want to be just? Do you know whether and what legitimacy you have? And how legitimate is what you are trying to promote? Do you want to verify or strengthen your legitimacy? Would you welcome a guide in legitimizing your project from start to finish? Have you found yourself in a dispute? Who is the moral victor in your dispute? Do you want to resolve your dispute out of court? We will evaluate your position, arguments, and the means you use. We will help you; we are the Charles University’s legitimacy services.
  • We are 100% independent and keen to help you. We have experience assessing legitimacy in most controversial projects in Europe.
  • We do not address legality. We address what is right and moral. We will not tell you whose side the law is on, but we will advise you whose side morality is on.
  • We know what is appropriate and proper in public projects and policies. We are familiar with the best global practices.
  • We draw from the knowledge of the legitimacy laboratory at the Department of Public and Social Policy, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University.
